The Total oil company has an extensive portfolio of refineries scattered around the world. The lighting of these refineries is complex, both from the technical and the safety points of view, and needs to be designed, selected and maintained within very strict rules of performance, safety and effectiveness of maintenance. For Total, DeepBlue Energy evaluated the costs and benefits and potential opportunities of future use of LED technology in the lighting of refineries, as well advised on establishment of a controlled process to test the practical aspects of this migration. DeepBlue Energy was later on selected to conduct a pilot at one of Total's refineries and is now the consultant for the roll out process.
